Come along with us as we hike out to Verde Hot Spring in Camp Verde, Arizona - a hidden gem tucked along the Verde River. The hot spring sits among the ruins of an old resort that operated from the 1920s until it burned down in 1962, after about 40 years.
According to local lore, Al Pacino was once part owner and supposedly spent time here when “things got hot” in Chicago 👀. You’ll know you’re getting close when you spot the Childs–Irving Hydroelectric Power Plant, which first went online in 1909 and ran for 96 years before being decommissioned in 2005.
🚙 Vehicle tip: A higher-clearance vehicle is recommended due to river crossings, but you could likely make it in a sedan if conditions are dry. If you love Arizona hikes, hot springs, desert history, ruins, and off-the-beaten-path adventures, this one’s for you!
